Why distance is not the problem
The truck is the office. It always has been.
Plenty of stripers work a twenty-mile radius, because a striper who only does his own local lots never has to solve being away from home. My work arrives through contractors, and contractors have jobs wherever they have jobs, so the trailer has always been set up to travel.
That means distance is a scheduling question, not a yes or no. It goes into the number rather than getting bolted on afterwards, and it matters far less than the size of the job. A big lot four hours out often prices better per line than a small one nearby.
If you have several sites in one area, say so. Doing them on one trip is cheaper for you than three separate visits, and it is the single easiest way to bring a number down.
Regular runs

These are normal weeks rather than special trips, so scheduling around them is usually easy.
Ann Arbor
Parking decks and commercial lots. The most frequent run.
Detroit
Lots, decks and road work, including overnight on live roads.
Kalamazoo
Commercial lots. A regular haul with the full setup.

West side commercial and industrial work.
Midland
Central Michigan runs, often bundled with other jobs nearby.

How far will you actually travel?
Anywhere in Michigan. The trailer is set up to be away from home, and travel has never been the thing that decides whether I take a job.
Do you charge for travel?

No. Michigan is the patch and I would rather cover it properly than spread out.

Does winter stop you?
Yes, and anyone who tells you otherwise is going to disappoint you. Paint needs dry pavement and enough warmth to bond, so the season is roughly the warm half of the year. Book early in it if you have a date that matters.
